Camp GPS

An accelerated (3 month) online strategic planning process for day or overnight camp teams to define their future vision, strategic direction, and goals; also to refresh a previous plan that has expired or lacks current relevance. Who It's For: A small team comprised of a diverse mix of senior staff and volunteers (5-8 members).

Program Goal

Determine your camp’s strategic priorities and set the organization’s course for the next 3+ years.

Participation Requirements

Team participation, including professional and lay leadership. We recommend a strategic planning team of 5 to 8, comprised of a diverse mix of senior staff and volunteers all of whom are committed to the long-term success of camp.

Format

8 live online webinars/work sessions for camp teams plus group coaching calls for Team Leaders.

GIFT Leadership Institute (GLI)

A cohort-based, 9-month program that guides leadership teams from day and overnight camps in developing a culture of philanthropy: a new approach to how the organization thinks about, talks about, and engages in fundraising. This year camps can apply to take part in the Choose Abundance Intensive, a program open to all nonprofits that is based on the GLI curriculum and led by JCamp 180 Consultant Laurie Herrick; limited availability will be filled through a competitive application processWho It's For: Up to 6 team members, including the Executive Director, Camp Director, Board Chair or equivalent lay leader, and a development professional (if applicable).

Program Starts

September 18, 2023

Program Goal

Prepare camps and their parent organizations for an organization-wide breakthrough to instill a powerful new culture of philanthropy.

Participation Requirements

Team participation, including the Executive Director and Camp Director, Board Chair or equivalent lay leader, and a development professional. Other professional/lay leaders are welcome up to a total of 5 team members.

Format

3 online retreats and monthly coaching calls with each camp.

JCamp 180 Enrollment Program

In 2023/2024, JCamp 180 is offering a set of webinars for camp professionals responsible for camper recruitment and retention to deliver relevant, timely, and actionable learning for current and long-term enrollment success. Who It's For: Professional staff responsible for recruitment/retention at camp.

Program Goal

Measurably increase recruitment and retention in both the short- and long term.

Participation Requirements

Professional staff of JCamp 180 day and overnight camps responsible for planning and executing camps’ recruitment and retention strategies.

Format

7 live online webinars with intentional time set aside at the end for discussion and to apply the learning to your camp.

Leadership Engagement and Advancement Program (LEAP)

A cohort-based, 10-month program providing skill- and capacity-building training to chairs/vice chairs of boards or camp committees of overnight and day camps to empower them in effectively leading the board in their important role at camp. Who It's For: Current Board Chair or Vice Chair of camp board/committee.

Program Starts

January 28-29, 2024

Program Goal

Build camp capacity by helping board and camp committee chairs/vice chairs practice healthy, creative, and responsible governance.

Participation Requirements

Participants must be the current Board Chair or Vice Chair of a JCamp 180-affiliated camp (one participant per camp).

Format

3 retreats (winter launch in-person; spring in-person; online fall conclusion), individual coaching calls, and quarterly coaching calls with the whole cohort.
