On April 9, 2013, JCamp 180 Mentor David Sharken led a virtual roundtable discussion about how to make Camp Committees and Boards more effective. JCamp 180-affiliated Boards and Camp Committees have improved drastically in recent years. They provide more strategic direction and are more focused on ensuring the long-term vitality of Jewish summer camp. However, we know there is always room for improvement.
This session was geared toward Board/Camp Committee Presidents and Committee Chairs, but all were welcome to attend.
Participants considered such questions such as:
- How do you find an recruit new members?
- Should we have community representation as well as people with strong ties to Camp?
- What is the best structure for a Board or Camp Committee with geographic diversity?
- What is the appropriate level of involvement of the Camp Committee/ Board in operations?
The Webinar recording and other resources below can help your Camp Committee or Board be even more effective.
