Securing Your Camp’s Future With a Permanent Endowment

Tuesday, February 6 4:00-5:30 PM EST

This virtual workshop series is designed to support Jewish overnight camps on their journeys toward building their permanent endowment funds and securing their financial future. Each workshop will include one hour of learning, followed by thirty minutes of optional group coaching facilitated by the JCamp 180 team alongside content experts.

All workshops are open to both camp professionals and lay leaders, and are designed to be accessed on a drop-in basis; you can choose to attend the entire series or select only those sessions most relevant to your camp’s journey. We hope you will join us to access tailored resources, learn about best practices, and hear from experts in the field of endowment and planned giving!

In this session, held on February 6, 2024, Dirk Bird, Founder and Principal at Illumination Strategies and Former Vice President of Planned Giving and Endowment at Jewish Federations of North America and Dan Kirsch, JCamp 180 Consultant shared how starting or growing your permanent endowment fund can plant the seeds for your camp’s future. They explained what a permanent endowment fund is, how it fits into a healthy financial strategy, and how to determine whether your camp is ready to begin an endowment campaign today. They also delved into the vital importance of engaging your camp’s leadership in a strategic conversation about endowment and your financial future, and provided guiding questions to help you open these conversations.

This workshop is relevant both for camps who are exploring the idea of starting a permanent endowment fund for the first time and for those who already have an endowment fund but need to refresh their fiscal strategy and set updated endowment goals.
