Build Your Match

Overview

Participation in Build Your Match 1 is limited.  Camps invited to participate in the Build Your Match 1 challenge grant are selected from a list of eligible camps that were asked to submit an application.

Build Your Match 1 provides the momentum for experienced JCamp180 affiliated camps to continue to cultivate and motivate existing and new donors. Gifts in both phases of this challenge grant may come from individuals, families (spouse, parents, siblings and children), family foundations or corporations. Grants from a Jewish Federation or from the Foundation for Jewish Camp are excluded. At least 50% of funds raised must go toward capital improvements or facility enhancements; the remainder is unrestricted and may be used for capital improvements, scholarships, endowments, or annual operating needs.

Review the Build Your Match 1 Brochure for more details about the structure of this matching grant program.

Eligibility

To be eligible for participation in Build Your Match 1, camps must be current affiliates of JCamp 180, must have completed a Meet Your Match, Create Your Match, and Chai Match program. Eligible camps will be notified by JCamp 180 administration and invited to apply for this program.

Key Guidelines

In Phase 1 each camp raises at least three gifts of $25,000 from individual donors. These gifts are matched 1:1 by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation to create a pool of matching funds of up to $150,000. The pledge portion of phase 1 runs from July 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.  Phase 1 pledges must be paid in full by June 30, 2019.

In Phase 2 the pool of matching funds of up to $150,000 is used to match 1:3 eligible phase 2 gifts of $1,500 or more. Gifts in both phases may come from new or previous donors and from individuals, families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children), foundations, or corporations. Gifts from a Jewish Federation or the Foundation for Jewish Camp are excluded.

The pledge portion of phase 2 runs from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019.  To be eligible for matching funds, phase two pledges must be paid in full by July 30, 2021.

Administration / Data Submission

The Build Your Match 1 program is administered by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation grants administration team using an on-line system.  All matching grant requests must be submitted through that online grant management system, which requires that participants register for this grant within the system.  A unique link for this matching grant program will be available here when the program launches. Directions for use of this system will be communicated to all participating camps.

The grant management system acknowledges all submissions by e-mail. It is the responsibility of the submitter to assure that documentation has been received by JCamp 180.  Pledge and gift payment information must be provided to JCamp 180 within 30 days of the end of the pledge / payment period.
