We are thrilled to be sending you this inaugural edition of the JCamp 180 Legacy eNewsletter. Camp Legacy is one of the flagship programs of the JCamp 180 program. By providing for future generations of campers, the Legacy program fulfills the obligation first described in the Talmud (Ta'anit 23a), an obligation most often paraphrased in the words "As my ancestors planted for me, so do I plant for my children." Legacy sustains the experiences of this summer and assures that Jewish values will continue to be taught through the camping experience.
To be successful, a Camp Legacy program must be dynamic. The relationship with a camp supporter that resulted in a Letter of Intent for an after-life gifts being signed five years ago must be sustained in order for a gift to be realized twenty or more years from today. The goal of this newsletter is to energize the legacy effort at YOUR camp; to assure that relationships are sustained, if not strengthened, and commitments to your legacy society are met. I encourage you to take the time to read about what other camps are doing to secure their future, and more importantly, to duplicate those ideas that will be meaningful to your donors. Enjoy!
