In 2024, Camp Stone implemented a new policy and system to limit staff cellphone use at camp. In 2025, they built on their initial success and changed the culture of staff cellphone use by implementing the Orbit Challenge: staff gave up their phones for the entire session!
On November 10, 2025, Yakov and Estee Fleischmann, Co-Directors at Camp Stone share their staff cellphone policy, systems they’ve put in place, and what they’ve learned through their two-year experiment. They also answered questions from participants and discussed how they can take some of these ideas back to their camps.
