When visiting camps our team members often notice ideas big and small that other camps might be interested in. Here we have assembled many examples so that everyone can learn from our visits.

This update features all things Dining Hall (Front of House, Back of House, Allergies, etc). Not every idea or example will be applicable to every camp, and we are always open to learning about new ideas to feature.

Name cards for dining hall tables to indicate who eats/sits where. Especially helpful for camp visitors to help know their way around the dining hall.

We all know how camp food can feel after a few weeks. An adult staff member kept a shower caddy full of spices and sauces (all allergy safe) near their usual spot in the dining hall to spice up their meals. All items here were checked to for allergy safety and kashrut before being allowed into the dining hall.

Handwashing sinks outside the dining hall, featuring controls at knee height so that they can be used handsfree.

This retractable awning adds flexibility and additional space to a camp dining hall. It is a convenient way to create shade that is both durable to the elements and easy to move when the temperature/sun requires it. Generally this is a more attractive and permanent solution to shade sails.

At Camp Ramah in New England, we saw these Warming Tables utilized in their outdoor dining pavillion (outside the main dining hall). This added capacity by allowing for more dining spaces while keeping food at appropriate temperatures.
